Monday:
  • Happy Monday!

  • Math/ Geometry: 2D Shapes Quiz
  • PTA Meeting at 8:15- 8:45am in the auditorium. 
    • This meeting is regarding the upcoming Spring Fling (festival). We need a lot of volunteers, so if you are interested please attend this meeting or contact Mrs. Thompson ( jil.thompson@cvesd.org). 
  • Library Day- Bring back your library books!
  • Adolescent Growth Education Parent Informational Meeting at the District Office from 6:00- 7:00pm.

Announcements for Week of Jan. 25th

Good morning Trojans,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Please read all of the announcements.

Homework for THIS week:
  • Read for 30 minutes each night
    • Remember that this is the minimum. We recommend that students read for about 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
  • 2 Achieve 3000 article online- “Watch What You Eat… or Your Parents Will” and one choice- Due Friday
  • Vocabulary Packet- Due Friday
  • Big 5
  • 4 Choices
  • Parent signature
  • Return HW Log (due Friday)
We give students time in class to work on ALL of these assignments in class, except for Big 5. They should only have a little to do each night to finish if they are using their time wisely. Please help me out by checking it thoroughly each night and feel free to email me if you have any questions. We appreciate your support from home. 

Accelerated Reader (AR):
·      Your child received their goal last week. Please remember that your child should be reading at least 30 minutes each night.
·      25% due TOMORROW
o   These students are ABOVE 25%:
§  1, 8, 11, 14, 18, 19, 20, 22, 25, 30
o   These students are ABOVE 50%:
§  12, 17, 24
o   These students are ABOVE 75%:
§  23, 27
o   These students are ABOVE 100%:
§  7
·      Quarter 3 due dates:
o   50% due Mon. 2/08
o   75% due Mon. 2/22
o   100% due Mon. 3/14
  • Student not meeting AR benchmarks will be reading during recess time to catch up on reading. Please make sure your child reads for at least 30 minutes each night to keep up with their reading progress.

Achieve 3000:
·      Starting THIS week, students will be expected to complete 2 articles per week by Friday.
·      There will be one assigned article and one choice article. Students will have time to start and complete the assigned article in class at the start of each week.
·      The choice article can be completed free time throughout the day. If not done during class, it must be completed for homework.
·      To login at home, go to www.login.achieve3000.com . Your student has their username and password glued into the planner as well as in their homework folder.

Change in Morning Routine:
  • The transition was so smooth today and I was so proud of our Trojans! Thank you for your support!
January Scholastic Orders:
·      We made the $100 goal! Thank you for helping put books in the hands of each students!
·      The orders have been submitted and should arrive in a week! J

Week at a Glance:: Jan. 25- 29th

Monday: 
  • New morning routine begins. Remember that students are to enter school from either the front gate by the office or back gate. They are to line up at letter Z in number order. Students are to be sitting and reading their books quietly. Students are not to be playing on the playground.
  • Ms. Delasandro's first day with us!
Tuesday:
  • Library- Please make sure to have your child bring in their library books that need to be returned. 
  • ELAC Meeting at 8:30am in auditorium
Wednesday:
  • Glee Club at 3 pm
Thursday:
  • American Sign Language at 3 pm

Scholastic Orders due TOMORROW!

January Scholastic Orders:
  • The deadline for ordering is TOMORROWWe are currently at $51 for total orders! Let’s try to make it to $100, so everyone can get a free book!

    o   If as a class, we spend $50 each student gets a free book coupon. 
    o   If as a class, we spend $100 each students will get a free I Survived: Extreme Weather
    ·      This is an amazing giveaway and it puts free books into the hands of our students!
    ·      Students received book coupons for meeting their AR goals last quarter. Students can collect and use them to get one free book or use it on an individual book. 
Student Teacher:
  • I am excited to announce that will have a student teacher from University of San Diego joining us on Monday. Ms. Kristine Delasandro will be with us until May and I know she will such a great asset to our classroom and family.

Student Council will be hosting a Spirit Week. Below are the dates and ideas for each day. 

Mon. 2/08: Minion Day
​- Wear yellow, purple, blue, or overalls to channel that inner minion!
Tues. 2/09: Career Day
- What do you want to be when you grow up? Dress up as your future self!
Wed. 2/10: College Gear Day
- Represent your favorite university! (Think USD, USC, SDSU)
Thurs. 2/11: Disney Day
- Dress up in Disney attire or as your favorite Disney character!

Can't wait to see all our school spirit!

Change in Morning Routine:
·      There will be a change in the morning routine starting Mon. 1/25. These new procedures are for the entire school TK – 6th Grade.
  • Students should not be dropped off before 7:45 am unless they are enrolled in the YMCA.
  • Only one gate will be open at the front of the school. It will be the gate by the office. All other gates at the front of the school will be locked. The back gate will also be open.
  • Students will now wait and line up in their fire drill lines at the black top. Students will be expected to be seated in number order and reading their book.
o  Our fire drill line is Z.
  • There will be supervision at the black top starting at 7:45 am.
  • Parents may wait in line with their children. Students may not wait outside their classrooms.
  • I will pick up the students at 8:15 am and students who are not in line will be will be marked tardy.
  • We will be practicing this throughout the week during class time.
  • If you have any questions, please let me know.
