Parent Reminders

Hello Trojan Family,

I hope you had a restful weekend! I am excited for our first full week of school. Below are some reminders for this next week:

• Back-to-School Night: Tomorrow (Monday, July 28th) at 4:30 pm in room 801. 
• Parent Letter: Please email me your letter regarding your student by Friday, August 1st. (I extended the homework assignment as to allow more time!)
• McMillin & Miss Morales' Packet: Both of these packets are due TOMORROW (Monday, July 28th). Please have your child bring in the packet tomorrow. 
• HUGS bag: In a gallon-size Ziploc bag, please have one water bottle, a snack, a book, and a letter from you. These bags are in case of emergencies and are very important. They are due tomorrow (Monday, July 28th).

Happy First Day of School!

Welcome Miss Morales' Trojans!

I had so much fun meeting all of my new fifth graders today! On the first day of school, it is always nice to open the door and see so many excited and smiling little faces looking at me. Today, we spent time getting to know each other, my rules and expectations, and even did a little math. I am sure your student is exhausted as I know I am!

This year your student is going to embark on an educational journey. Your student will be asked to engage in class discussions about human rights, native americans, the solar system, fractions, and much more. My goal, along with Mrs. Ko's, for your child this year is to be challenged and to grow as critical thinkers. This year we will also be focusing on developing 21st century skills, such as the use of different technology tools. We will be working with OneDrive, Edmodo, and KidBlogs. We are so excited for the development of these skills as it will make it easier to share your student's work with you more consistently.

We strongly believe in teamwork between home and school, so please do not hesitate to contact me or Mrs. Ko. This website is intended to help provide updates as well as reminders. On the side bar to the right, there is a tool to sign up to receive emails each time I update the website. Please sign up so that you are notified!

Again, I am so very excited and honored to have your student in my class. As I told them today, your student is not just my student, but a part of my family. Thank you for all your support and I look forward to an awesome year.
